In 2006 Legends 4.0, founded in 2005 by optical lab veterans the Benedict family climbed to #14 in sales among independents optical laboratories.
VSP VISION CARE PURCHASES OPTICAL LAB
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – VSP® Vision Care, the nation’s largest eyecare benefits provider, announced today their purchase of Legends 4.0™ optical laboratory, located in Lewisville, TX, outside Dallas.
“Legends 4.0 is an outstanding lab and we are very pleased to welcome them into the VSP family,” stated VSP President and CEO Rob Lynch. “This investment helps us expand our delivery of high quality optical products to private practice eyecare doctors nationwide.
Legends 4.0 was founded in 2005 by Bill Benedict, an optical industry veteran with more than 50 years of experience, and by daughter Donna Benedict and son Dennis Benedict. The lab has established a reputation for producing high-quality, advanced optical products and services ranging from their proprietary Fast Rx™, which allows doctors to electronically transmit their orders, to their exclusive ClearView, and ClearView Ultra anti-reflective coatings.

Essilor Honors Varilux and Crizal Labs of the Year

BANFF, Canada--Essilor of America honored the leading independent wholesale laboratory distributors of its Varilux and Crizal brands at a ceremony during its national sales meeting, held here last week.
Legends Optical 4.0 was named 2006 Varilux Lab of the Year. Four other labs--Pinnacle Optical, Optical Prescription Lab, Continental Sales and Balester Optical--were cited for Outstanding Performance in Varilux.
Luzerne Optical was named 2006 Crizal Lab of the Year. Four other labs--Legends Optical 4.0, Pinnacle Optical, Lab Italee and Davis Vision--were cited for Outstanding Performance in Crizal.
